How long is the route?

Haines to Skagway is approximately 352 miles / 566 km. See “The Route” page for more information about the route.

When and where is the Grand Depart?

When: Saturday July 26th, 2025 @ 6:00 AM
Where: Parking area near the small boat harbor and Lighthouse restaurant

What do I need to bring with me?

There is no required gear list. You need to bring whatever you need to get you to the next resupply stop. Other suggestions include a bicycle, camping gear, food, water, & water purification method. If you intend to complete the whole route, you will need to bring a passport and any additional documents that may be required to cross US / Canadian Customs.

What important information do I need to know about Customs?

US / Canadian Customs close between 11 PM AKT/ 12 PM YT and 7 AM AKT / 8 AM YT. If you arrive at the border stations while the border is closed, you will be required to wait until it becomes open again. YOU MAY NOT PASS THROUGH CUSTOMS WITHOUT SHOWING PROPER IDENTIFICATION.

Is there a time difference between Alaska and the Yukon?

Yes, there is a one hour time difference. Noon Alaska Time is 1:00 PM Yukon Time.

How much is the registration fee?

There is no registration fee. This is not a sanctioned or organized event. It is simply a group of cyclists riding the same route at the same time. A sign-up sheet is available here.
